Shoppers Drug Mart CIBC

Thank you for getting on board The Pink Tour last year, along with over 35,000 Ontarians. We’ll be hitting the road again during the summer of 2013, so keep checking back for updates!

THANK YOU!

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, with the support of Shoppers Drug Mart and CIBC, is hitting the road for a summer-long tour. Come join us to learn about the importance of breast cancer screening! With over 90 stops in communities all across Ontario, you can:

Why is The Pink Tour important?

We know that screening saves lives. The mortality rate for breast cancer has dropped by almost 40 per cent since the late 1980s, when organized screening began in Canada. Advances in earlier detection and treatment are the source of this progress. However, only 66 per cent of eligible women (ages 50 to 69) currently participate in regular screening in Ontario.

Research demonstrates that in most cases, detecting cancer sooner means more treatment options, a better quality of life and a better chance of surviving the disease.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is out on the road this summer to start a conversation with women about their choices for breast cancer screening, and to invite women, their family and friends to experience The Pink Tour and pledge their support for the cause. Come join us!

The Pink Tour impact across the country

Before coming to Ontario, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's Pink Tour toured the Atlantic provinces as well as British Columbia. The results were excellent, with over 34,000 visitors to the bus. As a result, screening rates increased in both places.

When The Pink Tour comes to your community, join us, learn more about your breast health and make an informed decision about what is right for you.

Making a Difference

Breast cancer is still the most common cancer in Canadian women. With 1 woman in 9 being diagnosed during her lifetime, communities feel the impact of this disease every single day. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is committed to making more progress, through investments in groundbreaking and innovative breast cancer research that is improving and saving women's lives. For example, the Foundation funded work by Dr. Mark Clemons of The Ottawa Hospital and Dr. Eitan Amir of Princess Margaret Hospital. They found that 15 per cent of tumours change over time, requiring a change in treatment, so doing a second biopsy when recurrent cancer is suspected can benefit women by ensuring they get the right treatment at the right time. This study has already changed clinical practice here in Ontario and around the world.
